HEADINGLEY, Manitoba – The Manitoba Open was officially reduced to a 36-hole event on Friday due to unplayable course conditions caused by inclement weather on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The first round is expected to begin at 7:30 a.m. CT on Saturday.

The start of the first round was initially delayed at 7:28 a.m. on Thursday after the course received 2.6 inches of rain overnight on Wednesday. After evaluating course conditions on Friday morning, the PGA TOUR Americas Rules Committee ultimately decided that the start of competition would have to be pushed to Saturday.

In addition to course conditions, PGA TOUR Americas Chief Referee John Slater cited time constraints as the main reasons for moving the Manitoba Open to 36 holes.

“Despite the hard work and efforts of the golf course maintenance staff here at Breezy Bend Country Club, we had to make the difficult decision to reduce competition to 36 holes,” Slater said. “After our evaluation of the course, we simply don’t have enough time to get through 54 holes of competition. The staff at Breezy Bend has worked tirelessly to get the course in tournament condition, and we look forward to crowning a worthy champion on Sunday.”

Per the PGA TOUR Americas Rules and Regulations, 36 holes must be contested for an event to be considered official, and the event will not extend beyond Sunday. The only other event in PGA TOUR Americas history to be contested as a 36-hole event was the 2025 Inter Rapidisimo Golf Championship, where Davis Lamb finished atop the leaderboard.
