John Daly Jr. gears up for debut on Korn Ferry Tour

    The Korn Ferry Tour heads to Norman, Oklahoma, for the second playing of the Compliance Solutions Championship, the 15th event of the Tour’s 26-event season. Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, home of the University of Oklahoma men’s and women’s golf teams, will play host to this week’s tournament for the second time. Check out storylines and things to know for this week below as the race for PGA TOUR cards heats up.

    1. Repeat winners continue

    Last week, Taylor Dickson became the third two-time winner on Tour this season with his second victory coming at the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas Wichita Open Benefiting KU Wichita Pediatrics. With the win, Dickson moves up to No. 3 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List. Dickson captured his first career victory earlier this season at the Astara Chile Classic presented by Scotiabank. Other repeat winners this season include Harry Higgs, No. 2 on the points list, who became the first player in Korn Ferry Tour history to win back-to-back tournaments in a playoff with wins at the AdventHealth Championship and the Visit Knoxville Open, along with Swedish star Tim Widing who was declared #TOURBound after winning back-to-back starts in April at the LECOM Suncoast Classic, and following it with a record-setting victory at the 2024 Veritex Bank Championship a week later.

    2. Strong Oklahoma ties

    Nine players in this week’s field have ties to the state of Oklahoma: Quade Cummins (Weatherford native), Rhein Gibson (Edmond resident), Brendon Jelley (Tulsa native), Andre Metzger (Ada native), Logan McAllister (Oklahoma City resident), Max McGreevy (Edmond native), Tag Ridings (Oklahoma City native), Robert Streb (Chickasa native) and Braden Thornberry (Germantown native). Seven current and former Oklahoma Sooners will compete at their home course ths week: Cummins, Grant Hirschman, Ben Lorenz, McAllister, McGreevy, Garett Reband and Patrick Welch. Five other players in the field played collegiate golf in the state of Oklahoma: Zach Bauchou, Morgan Hoffmann, Jelley, Kris Ventura (Oklahoma State) and Gibson (Oklahoma).

    3. New faces on Tour

    Arkansas Razorback John Daly II, son of five-time PGA TOUR winner John Daly, will make his first-ever start on the Korn Ferry Tour via a sponsor exemption. Daly II won the 2021 PNC Championship alongside his father, and they earned runner-up honors in 2021 and 2018.
