Seeking his first win on PGA TOUR Champions, Ángel Cabrera made two eagles on Saturday on his way to the low round of the day (66) and enters the final round with a two-stroke lead over Alex Cejka.

Team competition
- In addition to the PGA TOUR Champions 54-hole stroke play event, there was a team competition which featured 26 football legends.
- Format: On Friday and Saturday, there were 26 two-person teams (one Champions Tour player and one football legend) playing a two-man Best Ball. The counted score for each hole was either the Champions Tour player’s gross score or the football legend’s net score.
- Tim Brown (Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2015), paired with Tim O’Neal, won the inaugural team competition at the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational by four strokes.
