Home club is Romanby Golf and Country Club in Northallerton, a market town in North Yorkshire, England; he is known to use a ball marker from the club.

Younger brother, Ben, turned pro in 2025 at 20 years old. Ben, who won the 2023 English Amateur Championship, caddied for Dan the week of his breakout performance at the 2024 Open Championship.

Both Dan and his younger brother, Ben, won the English Amateur Championship, with Dan accomplishing the feat in 2016, and Ben following in 2023. Past champions of the English Amateur Championship include Nick Faldo (1975), Paul Casey (1999, 2000), Danny Willett (2007), and Tommy Fleetwood (2010).
